Hi readers,
today I want to talk about who I am and why I started this blog. In other words, today we're going to talk about my story. Mr. LOAS's story.
Firstly, what does "LOAS" stand for? It's an acronym for “Life Of A Student”.
I've already told you in the first post of this blog why I was writing, but it was a concise description.
“I'm starting this blog to share my life and to improve my writing skills and also my English skills. I'm a student and I'm very interested in coding and photography. I've already worked as a photographer for some events, and I'm also doing some things in coding, especially in Python, which I'm studying in school.”
I want to be more clear about all, what I've written at the beginning is not enough, as you've just read above.
Let's start when I was born, years ago… Okay, let's not start that far back in time.
I'm an eighteen-year-old student attending a scientific high school in the east part of Verona, in the North of Italy. To be more clear, my school address is “Applied Science”, which means we study something's theory, and after we have some practical lessons to understand better what we have just learned.
I think, on the theoretical plan, this is the best way to learn new concepts in school, but the Italian school system doesn't work very well - even though I have to admit that my school works better than others attended by my friends, as they've told me - it has a very old and not very updated program which means studying things that our parents also studied, without adding new important concepts, which were not yet born when the programs were created and this is a huge problem because it doesn't support innovation in the youngsters.
By the way, I'm not like other teenagers: I like having lots of experiences to try to find what I am passionate about.
For example, last week I had online lessons about Data Analysis and I enjoyed them, because I surely love data, as you've seen in the post where I tracked my health values daily or in my monthly recaps series. I don't know the real reason for this, but I think my brain thought “More data = more security", and that probably is the explanation for this behaviour.
I have also to admit, that data is very beautiful to see as diagrams, with all their colours and shapes. Talking about that, I found, some weeks ago, a site which posts every type of graphic about everything. There is also a subreddit whose members share all types of data, from the population in China to how people mainly die in video games or how many times people clean their houses. It's very funny to see how people waste their time doing these stupid analyses - I can't disapprove of how they spend their time, because they made those graphics and also I watch them, so I'm in the same situation.
Let's come back to Mr. LOAS's story.
As I've already told you, I like photography, and thanks to that, I began to work very young, doing some gigs for friends or contacts passed by them. These experiences gave me information about the job's world and I learnt new knowledge to be ready to start my career in the future.
When I began high school, I had video-editing lessons with an older student. Thanks to this contact, two years later I could take part in a start-up. It was a very exciting experience. I didn't earn money from that gig, but I brought with me important contacts and knowledge for my career. Nowadays, that start-up is an American Company! I'm very proud to have been part of it.
Probably you have heard of “Arena di Verona”, one of the most significant theatres in Italy, and also in the World.
There, I worked inside of it, about one month ago. It was a special event to promote Peace in the World, where also the Pope took part. I couldn't believe I was taking part in that event - for an eighteen-year-old student, it's not a common experience!
Previously I talked about career, and now I want to introduce this topic briefly - I will talk about this in a future post.
These days, I'm getting into what to do after high school. I will probably attend an undergraduate course in Computer Science, because I'm very interested in it, as you can have read in the posts about my videogame project. I'm getting back into it after a break that lasted months, and I hope to finish it by the end of the summer. That's the deadline of the project: if I finish in time, good, otherwise, the project will die.
I began today to study for the application, which will be at the beginning of September. I've already done one, and I scored 33/50; with that score, I would be 40th/150 in “La Sapienza” University (I don't want to apply to this University), but I did that without studying, so I want to try to achieve a better result. My goal is to score about 45/50.
Finally, I want to share with you two of my most important hobbies: Travel, as you've already read in the Iceland Trip post, and Mountain - including most of the sports you can do there.
I think that's all for now, maybe I will post an update in the future. I think I won't because this post was to give you information about my past life. Present and future life is shared in the blog's articles.
I hope you enjoyed the reading, see you soon with future posts!
